The 27th Annual Wellborn Blueberry Festival was in full swing this year as visitors flocked to Andrews Square in downtown Wellborn on June 5. The all day event opened with a hearty breakfast of blueberry pancakes, sausage and juice at 7 a.m. Long lines formed and remained steady as volunteers happily worked to get everyone breakfast. Volunteers Jim Bezaire and Jennifer Petit flipped pancakes until 10 a.m. or until they ran out of batter. A downtown parade was welcomed back this year as onlookers lined the streets with lawn chairs and coolers.
Mayso Martin, president of the Wellborn Association, said visitors were excited to be out. They had over 100 vendors, live music and kids games all day. Everyone seemed glad to be out and thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the event.
“It was a great success this year; it really was. I’m very pleased with all the volunteers and support,” Martin said. “I want to thank everyone, all the volunteers and vendors for participating. It was a great turn out.”
