New COVID cases below 10 percent for fifteenth straight day
Florida Department of Health Issues Daily Update on COVID-19
TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Department of Health (DOH), in order to provide more comprehensive data, releases a report on COVID-19 cases in Florida once per day. Today, Florida had the fifteenth straight day below 10 percent posaitivity of new cases.
Today, as reported at 11 a.m., there are 3,269 new positive COVID-19 cases and 135 reported deaths - 12 occurred yesterday, August 26. As posted on the Agency for Health Care Administration’s hospitalization dashboard at 11 a.m., there are 4,289 current hospitalizations with a primary diagnosis of COVID-19.
Test results for more than 58,700 individuals were reported to DOH as of midnight, on Wednesday, August 26. On August 26, 6.36 percent of new cases** tested positive.
To date, there are a total of 611,991 Florida cases*** with 10,868 deaths related to COVID-19.
Since August 26, the death of one hundred thirty-five Florida residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have been reported in Bay, Brevard, Broward, Charlotte, Citrus, Clay, Collier, Columbia, Dade, Duval, Escambia, Gulf, Highlands, Hillsborough, Holmes, Indian River, Lake, Lee, Leon, Manatee, Marion, Martin, Okeechobee, Orange, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Santa Rosa, Sarasota, St. Johns, St. Lucie, Sumter and Volusia counties.

To date, 4,587 individuals that were staff or residents of a long-term care facility have died.
