Spring and early summer in North Florida are normally busy times as residents usually enjoy attending events and happenings around the area. This year, however, due to COVID-19, events like the Suwannee River Catfish Festival in Branford, the Florida Folk Festival at Stephen Foster State Park in White Springs, and so many others, were canceled.

Branford, Fla., – With a great line-up of live music scheduled for the day, catfish dinners, raffles and vendors galore, the 2019 Suwannee River Catfish Festival brought thousands of visitors to Greenway Park in Branford, Florida, April 13, to enjoy their day along the Suwannee River. Visitors enjoyed a variety of live music from bluegrass to country and classic southern rock by the Kentucky Sleepy Hollow Band, Joe Reid and Heartland Band, Ronny McKinley Band, the Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band, Pronounced, and other bands. Sound was provided by Starlight Sound Productions.

With a vote of 75 to 43 by legislatures and Governor Ron DeSantis signing the bill into law, June 30, 2020, Florida pro-life supporters have won a major battle that has gone on for years.
In the SB 404 summary, it states that the Parental Notice of and Consent for Abortion Act prohibits a physician from performing an abortion on a minor unless the physician has received a notarized, written consent statement with specified language signed by the minor’s mother, father, or legal guardian and the physician has been presented with proof of identification by the parent or legal guardian.
