Dowling Park, Florida — Advent Christian Village is pleased to announce Michael Willis is the new Vice President of Financial Services/Chief Financial Officer. A native of Ft. Myers, Michael is a graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University and a Florida CPA. He comes to us from Givens Highland Farms, a retirement community in Black Mountain, North Carolina, where he was Financial Controller. Previously, he served as Vice President of Finance and Operations for the United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee Counties.
At ACV he will be responsible for managing all financial services throughout the community, ACV Health and ACV Conference and Retreat Center; overseeing the human resources and IT departments; and The Village Grocer, hair salons and the post office in The Village Square.
Michael was drawn to the position because of the location and the mission and company values of ACV.
“I prefer to work in the nonprofit sector because I want to feel I am giving back to the community and making a meaningful contribution with my work,” he says. “We wanted to return to Florida to be closer to our family and we love the Suwannee Valley area with its small town sense of community. I admire the integrity and the values of ACV’s mission and am proud to be a part of the company.”
His wife Suzie, a nurse, and two children, ages 19 and 15, will be joining him in Dowling Park this summer. Their family enjoys hiking, fishing and camping and are excited to get to know their new hometown. Michael takes over from Steve Hett, who is retiring after 22 years in the role.
