Kassie Dunmore grew up in Wellborn, Florida with her eight siblings. She is granddaughter to the late Earl and Melissa Redmon family that were a part of this community for many years. She loves coming home and says, “country is in her blood.” Kassie was educated in the Swannee County School district during her formative years. She recalls taking the school bus and riding from Wellborn to Live Oak every day for six school years. Later her family moved to Lake City and then she later moved on to the Central Florida area where she currently resides.

Kassie has always lived in Florida; she cannot imagine living anywhere else. Her career has taken her through positions of performing office administrative duties to becoming an educator in the Florida public school system until her retirement. She is looking forward to being a part of the Wellborn Florida Blueberry Festival 30th Anniversary event June 1, 2024, where this Wellborn born native will bring her art home.

Kassie’s coming home to Wellborn on this occasion is special. She has had a love for the arts for many years, from photography and most recently has begun her visual art journey. She started painting walls in her homes and admiring the transformation from a white wall to a “wow” wall, one that she could enjoy seeing from day to day. She loves mixing and placing colors on canvas watching pieces come to life one stroke at a time. Abstract acrylic art is her focus, and she continues to hone her skills and techniques daily. She will be highlighting her art at the Wellborn Florida Blueberry Festival on Saturday, June 1. Stop by her booth and welcome this Wellborn “country girl” back to where her roots are home grown.
