John Clark receives national Best in Care Award

By Tami Stevenson

Live Oak, Fla., - Local caregiver John Clark was chosen out of only six finalists from across the nation to receive the Best in Care Award by OnShift.

Clark was last featured in the Suwannee Valley Times on April 13, 2022 as a finalist for the award and we are proud to feature him in this issue as the winner!

His primary responsibility at Surrey Place Care Center in Live Oak, Florida is as a transport driver through Signature HealthCARE, taking residents to their appointments, and as a CNA, providing ADL assistance to them as needed for the duration of the trip.

Clark won the award for his selflessness, support, and commitment to resident and patient care. Along with the great rapport he has with co-workers and patients, Clark designed and helped implement a “Transport Hero of the Month” program at Surrey Place to help incentivize floor CNAs to assist with having residents ready for appointments in a timely manner so that the residents feel and look their best when leaving the facility and do not feel rushed out the door. Each month, John awards a CNA a gift card that he personally purchases to recognize their efforts and interactions with residents.

Staff, residents, family members, and doctor’s offices alike continuously praise Clark’s work, efforts and compassion, and he is an inspiration to the entire Surrey Place Care Center community.

The Best in Care Award – Recognizes frontline caregivers and care staff in long-term post-acute care, senior living or other non-acute care settings who deserve recognition for their selflessness, support, and commitment to resident and patient care. Nominations were open for all caregivers regardless of whether their employer uses OnShift and yielded six deserving finalists. Finalist John Clark was the overall winner of the Best in Care award and was selected by the public’s vote earlier last month.
