Japanese Garden Dedicated at Hearthstone

Wellborn, Fla., – Hearthstone Botanical Gardens is pleased to announce that the Japanese Garden is now open to the public to enjoy. Work on the garden began in January of 2020, and the garden was dedicated April 24, 2021.
Thanks to the support of the Live Oak Garden Club, Sherwin Williams, Cathy Nagler, Phyllis Bridges, Suwannee Labs, and a grant from the National Garden Clubs Plant America the garden was dedicated on April 24, 2021. This garden is designed with Florida friendly plants, shrubs. and trees; a bridge spanning a Koi pond; large wooden gateway; walking paths; and benches for meditation, prayer, and reflection. Director Judee Mundy commented, “This Japanese Garden is designed to promote peace, serenity, and renewal.” Hearthstone Gardens is a 501(3)c non-profit botanical garden and is unique in the North Florida area.
Hearthstone is located at 3300 134th Place, Wellborn, off US 90 W; 1 mile west of the Suwannee/Columbia County line. Coming from Live Oak, turn right just past the Wellborn Church of God. Coming from Lake City, turn left just past the Amazing Grace Church. This 35-acre garden features butterfly, children’s, and tropical gardens, seasonal trails, a picnic area under tall pines.
