White Springs, Fla., - With so many traditional events normally taken for granted in years past, this year that is not the case. Locals are looking forward to the park lights. It is heartwarming for many to see that White Springs' Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park and the Stephen Foster Citizens Support Organization (SFCSO) is preparing to illuminate the park once more with holiday lights, in keeping with tradition.

In a letter from SFCSO President Michael Williams, he acknowledged that this year has been arduous for many and they understand just how much this event means to the local and surrounding communities.

“The health and safety of our visitors, staff and volunteers are of the utmost concern for us in this era of a worldwide pandemic,” stated Williams.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Festival of Lights will feature all “Silent Nights” and have modified operating dates to ensure everyone’s safety. The event will begin on Friday, December 4 and will be open Saturday, December 5. From December 6 through December 15, the event will be open Wednesday through Saturday nights. From December 16 through December 24, the event will be open every night.

Park Specialist Andrea Thomas said by phone that everything must be approved through the state before they can move forward with each event. The staff and volunteers are excited to be able to bring Festival of Lights back this year for the communities.

For safety concerns, none of the buildings will be open to the public and guests are encouraged to bring a thermos of their favorite hot chocolate recipe as none will be offered to guests this year at the park.

The dazzling display of lights is sure to capture the heart and be an experience to remember for young and old, alike.
