CALL OF GUNSHOTS HEARD LEADS TO ARREST FOR AGGRAVATED BATTERY

Lake City, Fla.,  On Sunday, August 9, 2020 at approximately 2:53 a.m., officers of the Lake City Police Department responded to a call of gunshots heard in the area of NW Jefferson Street and NW Virginia Terrace. Upon arrival to the area, officers observed an individual inside a vehicle with large amounts of blood around the head.



Investigators discovered the following: At approximately 2:40 a.m. the victim was awakened by the sound of loud music coming from the aforementioned intersection. The victim got into a vehicle and drove to the intersection where there was a crowd of people and parked vehicles. The victim asked several individuals to turn down the music. Two of the individuals became upset and began to verbally attack the victim. At the same time, two unknown females began to physically attack the victim while the victim was inside the vehicle. During the attack, a male pulled the victim by the hair removing the victim from the vehicle and forced the victim to the ground.


While on the ground the victim recognized the voice of one of the attackers as Kaishonta Dorsey, black female, 32 (DOB 10/29/1987). Ms. Dorsey struck the victim on the back of the head with a glass bottle. Around the same time, multiple gunshots were fired by an unknown suspect in the area and the crowd dispersed.


Ms. Dorsey was arrested for Aggravated Battery.
