Republican National Committee (RNC) Chair Ronna McDaniel said in a news release, Thursday evening, that Jacksonville was chosen as the destination spot for the Republican Renomination Convention to re-elect President Donald Trump.
The celebration is now set to take place at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Area in 75 short days.
Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry said in a video release that Jacksonville will be ready. "Jacksonville isn't just any city. Here in the River City, we do things big and bold, and we'll be ready."
“We are thrilled to hold @realDonaldTrump's acceptance of the Republican nomination in the great city of Jacksonville,” McDaniel stated in a tweet. "Not only is Florida his home state, it is crucial to victory."
It is speculated that the celebration could generate more than $100 million for the Jacksonville area.
“We look forward to bringing this great celebration and economic boom to the Sunshine State in just a few short months,” McDaniel stated in a news release.
