Staff Reports

Victoria Coker, a 14 year old eighth-grader from Columbia County with an IQ score of 146, was recently accepted into Mensa. Mensa is the oldest high IQ society in the world requiring an IQ of the top 2% of the world’s population. She was also accepted into Intertel, the 3rd oldest high IQ society requiring an IQ of the top 1% of the world’s population.

Victoria attends Belmont Academy Charter School in Lake City and told the Suwannee Valley Times that her favorite subjects are history, english and language. She tutors younger students and enjoys choreographing dance numbers, crocheting, reading, sports, skateboarding and hanging out with animals. She wants to become a veterinarian, so she reads and studies about animal behavior whenever she can.

Through Belmont, Coker is the President of the National Junior Honor Society, the Captain of the Multicultural Performing Arts Club, and the President of the Ambassador Leadership Council.

Currently, she has created a small business out of her love for crocheting, making hats, gloves and small dolls to sell.

It will be interesting to watch the progress of this bright, well-spoken young lady.
